It also lacked a lot of built-in reporting features, no rounding up option built-in, limitations on exporting to Excel, etc. STACK's Support team is incredible though! And they are ever calculation features on almost a weekly basis. PlanSwift only does an update like in one case a year... It's terrible. The software looks the same and has the aforementioned tools from ten years ago. Not much improvement since... Nosotros actually hope that someday STACK will get to a point that we could switch to them. ProEst is simply too pricey and weren't impressed by reviews. So we never even tried it.

I've been a Planswift user for last 8 years. The program has a lot of bells and whistles with so many custom options. Its a rather incredible concept but some of the tools similar hip/valley tool, comparative overlay and auto count don't work properly. My number i effect with plan swift is the code. I would mostly get silence from client support when making that annotate, it seemed odd but I didn't put much thought into it and only kept upgrading hardware on my PC to compensate. I also noticed it would crash more often than I find reasonable and will likewise crash excel when open even if not using Planswift at the fourth dimension. Overall has been peachy! ran into a licensing issue with one of my computers but it was the computer itself that was an issue rather than Planswift so once I had fixed the issue with the computer everything got improve.
What I similar near this software is that it is easy to install and manage. I also like the online portal where I tin run into all my licenses besides as what computers they are installed in and how long the license is valid for until it reactivates itself. The client back up is besides great equally I had remote support from them and they actually stayed on there trying to solve the event and escalated information technology to a supervisor when needed,
Not much to say about what I don't like since they did a really expert job when I needed support with fixing an issue as well as it is overall easy to administer

Overall, I would recommend Planswift to a friend if they are starting out with estimating considering it is easy to use. I do wish there was an online/ cloud base pick that saved in real time so it was automatically updated as adjustments to takeoffs are made. - that would be very helpful for me and my visitor

*Disclaimer* I declined any training in this product, and then negative experiences may be the event of ignorance I've been using PlanSwift for near a year & am very happy with information technology. I use it exclusively for takeoffs, of which I take done over 600 this year. I would highly recommend it for takeoff purposes, just I have no experience with it'south other functions & cannot offer any comments on them. Customer service was prompt & answered my questions to my satisfaction. They couldn't set up my desktop freezing problem (run into below) & were non aware of it beingness a problem, but I found an acceptable workaround myself. I can't comment on value for money as I am non responsible for whatsoever budget in my visitor.
PlanSwift gives a high level of user command for the published result of the takeoff. I can modify takeoff colours, add notes, create my own legend (with notes), insert lines, arrows, etc. The takeoff functions are well designed. Adding an area to the same layer is like shooting fish in a barrel, subtracting a section is just equally easy & displays very nicely as a blank space which doesn't interfere with other layers or the original drawing. Modifying a takeoff shape or colour is very piece of cake, as well every bit drawing curved shapes, copying shapes to same or new layer. Diverse layers don't interfere with each other, don't "autumn behind", etc. Layers tin easily be turned off & on. Scaling is excellent with preset dropdown & custom input available, allowing you to work in metric or imperial & scale in either without limiting your output unit selection (ie. scale in metric & get takeoff output in purple units if desired). It appears to me that a lot of attending went into the pattern of the takeoff features. There are a lot of piddling things that arrive much easier to use. The loading time is the biggest drawback. This also causes my desktop to freeze so that I cannot move files around or into folders until I restart windows, wait for my screensaver to come on, or sometimes it just fixes on it'due south own. This is silly, just it seems that the programme loads every drawing in it's database when I open up the program, so to proceed loading times reasonable, I need to remove files from it's database when I cease with them. Information technology's an annoying & unnecessary hassle. It may be that the program is designed to load several drawings for a single project & so file the whole project when complete; so this might bespeak I am using the program in a way it wasn't intended. Even so, I don't want to file away each drawing when I'm finished & kickoff a new projection. The takeoff is the projection for me, so creating a project for each drawing will end up costing me fifty-fifty more time, if that is how it is designed. Twice with complicated, multi-layered projects, I've had the program freeze when attempting to publish a pdf. Mostly at the end of the twenty-four hours when I've already stayed a bit late to finish, & the takeoff is needed asap. This sucks. Restarting, loading the program & trying once more takes 10-xv min. In both case it has not worked after 3 tries & I've had to relay the info verbally or utilize a screenshot instead of a published pdf. Honestly, out of 600+ takeoffs, that's not terrible - I'm bold it has something to do with the file format and/or amount of info I tried to publish. I've had lots of complicated takeoffs with many layers & pages work just fine.

We are a medium size concrete and masonry subcontractor. We have used another estimating software for about 17 years, simply no on screen take off abilities and very piddling flexibility in creating your own assemblies or unit prices. It is more of a full general GC type of software. It was time for a change. I am very happy with Planswift. No software is perfect, but definitely Planswift makes easy taking off and estimating a job. If you programme on using it but for take off purposes, y'all can get-go as soon equally yous buy it. The other downside for me was that I had to take my figurer rebuilt, and the PlanSwift files were stored in a place on my computer that is not routinely copied when an IT tech rebuilds the computer. Sorry I don't remember where the files were stored. HOWEVER, the PlanSwift customer service team was extremely helpful and worked with my IT tech to try to find and restore the files. Although they were not able to restore any of the files, they were able to change the location of storage and then that wouldn't happen again. Besides, I waited to have my computer rebuilt until I had finished a big project, and so I didn't really miss anything that I had lost.
