The Power to Live

Take a Generac portable generator to that far corner of your property instead of running lengthy extension cords. Or rely upon portable power if you need to turn off utility power for extensive home improvement work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy in New Jersey from You get what is advertised I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940). I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain. So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome! Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Art from Seems great - just bought - missing a piece I just received the shipment and set it up for test run. The setup was easy (using my tractor to get it lifted off the pallet so I could install the wheels). Started right up and made electricity, so all good. Then ran it back out of fuel and disconnected the battery so it would store well. Overall, all systems go. Needed this size to run my 5HP well and some other selected items during power outages for hurricanes. Couple of points: 1. Generator arrived missing the fuel supply line from tank to carb. I didn't want to call and wait for Generac to ship me one, since I know it was only a $5 purchase at the local auto parts store. 2. It would be nice for the instructions to give a recommended amount of oil to add at initial set up. I had to add a little, then check the stick, and repeat until I figured out it took ALMOST 2 quarts. For fear of overfilling, that took longer than it should.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lonzo from I have two generac generators After a lot of research I had decided on a Generac i3000 for camping. This unit is amazing. Quiet and economical with enough power to run a 29 foot travel trailer. Many years ago my brother bought a new generator and I bought his old one "Colman". Loud yet did the job until it broke. Now wanting a new generator I had no hesitation buying my new GP6500. It's awesome. Yes I have two generac generators and I am pushing my in-laws to buy the same. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Eric from Hurricane Auxiliary Power I bought a GP8000e 3 years ago but didn't need to use it until now. I turned this generator on Wednesday night after hurricane Ian had passed. It's been running for 5 days straight. I do change the oil every day, not sure if that's necessary. It's been running the lights, two air conditioners, tv, refrigerator… I've even used the washing machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Juicy440 from Easy set up and easy to use bought this the day before the hurricane. Set up took about 20 minutes. Started right up and instructions were really easy to follow. Even came with a 20 ft 20 amp cord which was great since it was hard finding any power cords at all the stores. A little louder than I thought it was going to be be but had to keep in mind that it was next to the house and bigger than most of the generators I used in the past.
